Reading out a book of some of their beloved characters is a win-win situation where in you not only reduce the dental anxiety but also inculcate a habit of reading. When these kiddos have a warm and playful dental visit, they are more likely to have a positive outlook towards oral hygiene throughout their life.
Parents also play a vital role in helping your child not developing the fear of the dentist. Children are very receptive to any change in mood, tone of voice, expressions and change in body language from parents. You need to remain calm and relaxed. Talk to the dentist prior to your appointments and release your fears. Together we can achieve more.
When kids are overwhelmed by emotions, it is our job to share our calm and not join their chaos.
